How It Works?

Once you have registered as a teacher, you can begin to create student teams of 3-4 students. After creating your teams, you can download unique access codes for each student. This will serve as the student’s log-in for the competition. Distribute these access codes to your students when they are ready to take the Challenge.

Once the competition begins, students can enter the Finance Challenge ONLINE and complete a 30-question exam consisting of categories of Income and Money Management, Spending and Credit, and Saving and Investing. Each student will be given 35 minutes to take the exam but all team members must complete the exam within 3 hours. Only the top 3 scores will be calculated for the team score. Therefore, a team of 4 students will have the lowest score dropped.

-Each student is to complete the challenge as an individual and may not work in groups.
-Students may not utilize any outside materials or testing aids during their challenge session.
-The advisor is not to help the students by guiding them or re-phrasing a question.

Scoring

Team score is determined by the sum of highest 3 scores of each team. Individual scoring is based on the following:

  • +10 points for each correct answer
  • (-5) points for each incorrect answer
  •
  • 0 points for each unanswered question
